Howls From The Founder
In our latest podcast episode, #9, Drew and I take the deep dive into brain development with neuroscientist Kathy Murphy. She explains how dogs’ brains develop throughout their lives starting in puppyhood. It’s a really big deal because if you understand some of the basics and get things right in puppyhood, you'll set the dog up for success! That means a happier dog, and a lot more joy from your companionship.

Ladies and gentlemen, please meet a one-eyed hunk named Gus. He is 2 years old and a perfect sweetheart. Gus is currently in a foster home with three other dogs, two of which are seniors. He is not as into them as he is into his young foster sister Star. They can play all day together! His foster mom says she has them take breaks, and Gus does not complain when he spends a couple of hours in his crate after he has had playtime. The shelter learned that Gus used to chase cats and chickens. This behavior led his former family to give him up. Gus previously lived on a farm in southern Illinois. He still does want to chase squirrels on walks! The ideal home has no small animals for this guy, but he would benefit from another playful companion who can match his energy. Gus would also do well with a good handler who is active and enjoys training!
