Howls From The Founder
In our latest podcast episode, #9, Drew and I take the deep dive into brain development with neuroscientist Kathy Murphy. She explains how dogs’ brains develop throughout their lives starting in puppyhood. It’s a really big deal because if you understand some of the basics and get things right in puppyhood, you'll set the dog up for success! That means a happier dog, and a lot more joy from your companionship.

“Cubby awaits a dog-savvy family who is well versed in positive reinforcement training and has experience handling dogs who display fear-based behaviors. The best fit for him would be a calm and adults-only home where the female is the primary caretaker and is at home the majority of the time.

Cubby does not do well around large dogs. He needs a similarly sized, well-balanced dog for play and companionship. His forever home must have well secured, 6-foot privacy fencing. He will not walk on the lead, and the shelter recommends against dog park visits. He is easily spooked by movement or noise, but recovers quickly. Because new environments unnerve him, Cubby isn’t the best travel companion. While he might not be the ideal dog for most, there is hope that in the right environment and with the right training, he may overcome some of his fear behavior. His current foster has noticed that if you work with him patiently, he will reward you with loyalty and adoration. Cubby is remarkably handsome, loving, playful, and charming. He loves strawberry outshine popsicle snacks and playing in the backyard, snow or shine.”
