Labrador Puppies in Same Litter Span the Fur Color Spectrum

Credit: SWNS

A litter of Labrador puppies born to a mother named Zola covers the entire fur color spectrum - black, yellow and chocolate - an extremely rare occurrence.

Zola belongs to Martin and Tina Davis, who have been breeding Labradors for about fifteen years with assistance from Wylanbria Kennels.

Ten puppies were part of this litter, with two yellow, three chocolate and five black, born in mid-October and all lined up to loving forever homes.

"We'd planned to produce a boy and a girl capable of giving all three colors since the day we started breeding, and now we've finally done it," Tina Davis told People Magazine, noting that very few Labradors have been recorded as producing all three fur colors in the same litter, because it takes a highly specialized mix of genetics to accomplish this.

Because Zola's pregnancy was difficult due to so many puppies, this will be her last litter, though the Davises plan to continue this line with some of the daughters.

This news was previously reported by People Magazine.
